How to hear it

Life notes / jeeva
R2, G2, D2, N2 are the jeeva/life swaras; of these, Gandhara (G2) and Nishada (N2) are the identity-bearing kampita notes that carry the raga's svarupa.
Resting notes / nyasa
M1 (madhyama), the nyasa (resting/landing) swara.
Signature phrases / prayoga
Panchama-varja throughout (no P). Characteristic jiva sancaras M N D N S and R G M R G S (shared with sibling Madhavamanohari); admits kadu (brisk), janta and pratyahata prayogas and is often taken across three sthayis.
Ornament / gamaka
Gandhara (G2) and Nishada (N2) are the kampita (oscillated) swaras; a rakti raga rendered with extensive gamaka, well suited to janta and pratyahata phrases and fast-tempo passages.
