How to hear it

Life notes / jeeva: Ri and Dha (R1, D1).
Resting notes / nyasa: Ma, Pa, Dha (M1, P, D1).
Signature phrases / prayoga: Ascending R1 M1 P D1 S and S R1 M1 P D1 S; descending S N3 D1 P M1 G3 R1 S; panchama-varjya (Pa-omitting) prayogas give much ranjakam; bhashanga-style sancaras s r g r s and p d n d p in which ga and ni are slightly flattened.
Ornament / gamaka: Gamaka-varika rakti raga; the distinctive Saveri madhyama (a unique rendition of suddha madhyama with characteristic gamakas); Ma and Dha rendered as deergha-kampita (long oscillated) swaras; oscillation/kampita on Ri and Dha.
